IRS Extends IRA Contribution Deadline
Members wanting to make additional 2006 IRA contributions have a few extra days past the originally reported April 15 tax deadline. The IRS has extended the deadline to April 17. Why the extension? One of the largest IRS processing centers is in Massachusetts. It will be closed on Monday, April 16 as the Bay State celebrates Patriot’s Day.
If you have made contributions for the 2006 tax year or completed a rollover in 2006, you will receive the IRS form 5498, Individual Retirement Arrangement Information, in May. It includes your IRA Fair Market Value balance and a summary of your 2006 tax year contributions made from January 1, 2006 through April 17, 2007.
