PSECU Employee Named Firefighter of the Year
Harrisburg, PA - PSECU and its employees put the “People Helping People” philosophy into action both in and out of the workplace. For example, Andria White, who works in PSECU’s Internal Audit Department, volunteers for her local fire company. Recently, her efforts were recognized by The Citizens Fire Company #1 of Oberlin, Pennsylvania, who named her Firefighter of the Year.
Andria has been involved with the fire department since 1999 as a volunteer bookkeeper. For the past two years, she has been an active firefighter after earning national and state-certified Firefighter I & II designations. With these credentials, she can fight fires anywhere in the United States. Additionally, she completed specialized training that allows her to enter burning buildings.
Andria initially joined the fire company when she answered a general call for volunteers. Thinking it would be a good learning experience, she signed up and since then, her love for the job has grown. When asked why she volunteers, Andria says, “It gives me a sense of pride to help people who need assurance in difficult times in their lives. Winning the Firefighter of the Year Award is confirmation of all the dedication, hard work, training, and long hours of community service committed over the last two years.“
