Protect Your Account PIN
Article by PSECU's Loss Prevention & Security Division

PSECU is committed to protecting our members’ personal and financial data. We have physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in place to secure your information. Our security measures, however, can only do so much. You also play a critical role in safeguarding your assets.

Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) is the key to your account security. This number identifies and validates you with the systems that require it. You choose your account PIN, and you’re responsible for its safekeeping. Remember, PSECU staff does not have access to PINs. They are stored only within the electronic systems that require them.

We suggest choosing a PIN for your account that is different from the one you choose for your credit or debit cards. Also, do not choose a number that could be easily associated with you, such as a birth date, phone number or box number.

Keep It Secure!
PINs are needed for many transactions these days. Memorize your number instead of writing it on a piece of paper. Do not share your number with anyone. If you’re leaving a voice message for us or sending us an e-mail or letter, do not include your PIN. Doing so places your security code at risk!

Changing Your PIN
If you believe your account PIN may have been compromised, change it immediately. The Self-Service Telephone (SST) is available 24/7 by calling 717.236.9150 in Harrisburg or 800.435.6500 nationwide. Enter your account number and current PIN. Then enter the * symbol followed by your new PIN. For example, to change a PIN from 1234 to 9876, when prompted for your PIN, enter 1234 * 9876 #. You can also change your account PIN through psecu@home® by going under the “My Profile” tab.

Remember, your account PIN is your private security code used to help protect your assets. Guard it carefully to keep unauthorized individuals from accessing your account.
