Conference Committee Approves Interchange Fee Amendment

On June 22, 2010, the conference committee negotiating the differences between the House and Senate versions of the financial regulatory reform bill voted to approve a modified version of Senator Durbin's interchange fee amendment. The modification was due in no small part to the best efforts of PSECU and other credit unions seeking to protect the debit card programs. But the goal was to have the interchange fee amendment. Today, Earth Day, reminds us to take care of our planet. Energy conservation is an important part of that goal. And it’s also a great way to conserve your cash. Here’s an idea for celebrating Earth Day: Audit your home for energy use/waste; make a list of the things you can do to help improve your home’s energy use; and, finally, make a plan to get those things done. The sooner you take steps to reduce your energy costs, the sooner you’ll see savings.
