One reader wrote acknowledging the need for share (deposit) rates to come down but then asking if loan rates would fall, also. It’s certainly a reasonable question, and PSECU has lowered rates in a number of areas already. For example, in 2008 we reduced the rate on Visa® Capitol Card® cash advances from 12.9% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) to our Visa purchase rate of 9.9% APR.

Great news! Here’s another reason why you can be glad you’re a credit union member. GM and Chrysler have recently announced their participation in the Invest in America program. Basically, as a credit union member, you can get discounts and cash back in addition to the current dealer incentives already in place for many makes and models.

For years, banks have been making money – and lots of it – from fees they charge their customers. Now with the crisis, I’ve heard news reports stating that fees are likely to rise even more.
