Not surprising, in this economy, there’s been an increase in attempted fraud. PSECU’s Loss Prevention and Security Unit has provided the following notice about a current phishing attempt being circulated:
PSECU has been notified that fraudulent Verified by Visa/MasterCard SecureCode pop-up messages are being received by some members when attempting to log into their accounts using psecu@home®. This type of fraud is called a phishing scam and is designed to collect sensitive information from unsuspecting users/members. The pop-up screen below is an example of an attempt by a fraudster to gain your credit card and other personal information.
The following pop-up has been reported:

PSECU members should NOT respond to or enter any information into these types of solicitations. Additionally, we recommend that you do not follow any links contained in these messages to other Web sites. Further, if you have received a pop-up such as the one above, you should have your computer examined by a computer professional or notify your IT department immediately. If you have provided your information and feel that your account has been compromised call PSECU immediately at 800.237.7328 nationwide or 234.8484 in Harrisburg.
When using the Internet for financial transactions, make sure the padlock is displayed in your browser and be sure to always keep your operating system, applications, and anti-virus software current.
