Best Places To Work Is More Than A Title At PSECU
HARRISBURG, PA - September 30, 2009 - PSECU was recently named one of the 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania for 2009 for large-sized companies. The Best Places to Work program is a public/private partnership between Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the Central Penn Business Journal.
The award recognizes PSECU's constant effort to provide a vibrant, progressive work environment for all of its employees. Over the years, PSECU has instituted a number of programs to make working at the credit union more than just a job for its employees including: family day at Hershey Park and local sports venues, tuition reimbursement to further employee education, lunch and learn programs promoting healthy lifestyles, and an on-site fitness facility free to all employees.
Upon receiving notification of the award, Cathy Tama-Troutman, Vice President of Human Resources commented, "It is exciting to have the recognition of Best Place to Work in PA. PSECU employees provide quality service to PSECU members every day. It's a total effort by both management and staff to have a quality work environment that translates into quality service to PSECU members."
A specific example of such efforts came during the recent PA Commonwealth Budget Impasse where PSECU was offering a special loan product to its eligible state employee members. Call volumes were well above normal, some days reaching record highs, and management felt obligated to show their appreciation to staff. Managers frequently went desk-to-desk serving refreshments to show their gratitude for their employees' hard work during this busy time.
When asked what it was like to be an employee at PSECU, Chrissy Moyer, Member Service Representative I, explained, "The best thing about working at PSECU is the environment. Not only is it very family oriented, but the staff all feels like a family too. They also look to involve employees in the things that they do in the community, which makes it feel more than just a place to work."
