PSECU Sponsors the Local Jefferson Awards
HARRISBURG, PA - November 2, 2009 - Making a difference in their communities, six regional finalists were recognized at the Jefferson Awards dinner on October 29, 2009 hosted by WGAL-TV in Lancaster. One will go on to represent the region at the National Jefferson Awards in Washington D.C. The United Way joins PSECU in supporting this important event. This was the sixth year that PSECU has sponsored the awards locally.
The Jefferson Awards were founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard to formally recognize those who dedicate themselves to community and public service. Today, the awards serve as a "Call to Action for Volunteers" in local communities.
Barbara J. Bowker, Vice President of Marketing for PSECU, commented, "We're very proud to play a part in promoting community service. It falls in line with the 'People Helping People' philosophy we embrace."
