PSECU Celebrates Fraud Awareness Week with Employees and Members

HARRISBURG, PA - November 12, 2009 - With recent difficulties in the economy increasing financial pressures for businesses and individuals alike, fraud is on the rise, according to security experts. In response, PSECU is using International Fraud Awareness Week to educate both its employees and members on how to identify and prevent fraud in the workplace and at home.

PSECU hosted an onsite fraud awareness fair at their headquarters in Harrisburg, PA.The PSECU Loss Prevention and Security (LP&S) Unit kicked off the awareness campaign early by holding an information fair for employees at PSECU's headquarters. At the fair, the LP&S Unit provided information on external fraud as well as what red flags to look for to identify internal fraud. Representatives from the PA Attorney General's Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Department of Aging & Dauphin County Criminal Investigation Division also participated to provide an update on the current fraud climate in Pennsylvania.

PSECU will also be using National Fraud Prevention Week to provide its members with information on how to protect themselves from the growing number of fraud schemes people fall victim to every day. Staff from the LP&S Unit set up a table at both PSECU counter locations in the Harrisburg Area to hand out helpful tips and answer members' questions.
