Affordable Indoor Activities that Our Employees Love

When the weather outside is frightful, doing an indoor activity with friends or family members is delightful, especially when it’s budget friendly.

Check out some of our employees’ go-to affordable indoor activities for the winter months.

• Painting and Sketching. Channel your inner artist and create something new, without breaking the bank.

“You can even get paint, small canvases, or paper at [the dollar store] when on a budget,” shared Libby R.

• Writing Short Stories. The only limit is your imagination with this low-cost activity.

If you prefer to handwrite your stories like Tracy K., she shared that “lined notebooks are very inexpensive.” You could also repurpose scrap paper that you have lying around.

• Baking. Try this fun challenge from Caitlin C. to whip up something delicious, without spending a dime.

“It can be fun to just see what you have already at home and try to make something of it. Of course, you can always go out and purchase ingredients if needed, but I have found plenty of recipes with the items I already have in the pantry.”

• Yoga. You can find tons of free videos online to help you get started without stretching your budget.

• Reading. There are countless books out there, so curl up and choose a good one, without even leaving the house.

Try this tip from Ashley G: “You can save by connecting apps [on your smart devices] to your local library and borrowing e-books.”

• Card games. Embrace your inner child, like Cassie H., and spend time with your family or friends playing card games.

• Make your own playdough. Try your hand at making this popular childhood delight at home.

Haley H. finds this activity to be a recipe for success in her home. “Making playdough is a super fun in-home activity. Usually, I have all ingredients on hand, [it] gets my toddler involved, and we have a math lesson, as well.”
