2. Stop in at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University

Cost: $5 suggested donation from each person who visits the museum for a scheduled tour. Seasonal on-site events are free and open to the public.

3. Hit the Links at Sittler Golf Center

If you’re an avid golfer, then Sittler Golf Center is the right place for you. Visitors can receive lessons from the PGA golf instructor or try out their indoor golf simulator. For those who prefer putt-putt to actual putting, Sittler also offers a mini-golf course. You can schedule outings for groups on the mini-golf course, too. It makes an ideal adventure for scouting groups and a fun after-game destination for sports teams.

4. Visit Rodale Institute Farm

Have you ever wondered what an organic farm looks like? This fully functioning farm in Kutztown takes the mystery out of it. Their Farming Systems Trial is the longest side-by-side comparison of organic vs. conventional farming methods. You can wander around the farm, and then check out the Garden Store, located in a former one-room schoolhouse. Rodale Institute offers occasional workshops and an annual Organic Apple Festival that will delight the taste buds. They also train beginning farmers with programs for both the general pubic and honorably discharged veterans.

5. Take a Ride on the Allentown & Auburn Railroad

The Allentown & Auburn Railroad is just a few years old, but it’s full of treasures, such as a 100-year-old passenger car and the country’s second-oldest operating diesel locomotive. As you chug along the track, you will be regaled with stories of the early years of the industry.

6. Go Antiquing at Renningers

The Renningers Antique, Farmer’s and Flea Market features merchants from all around Kutztown, who sell their wares at one central location. You’re sure to come across something that piques your interest.
