PSECU Wire Transfer: How to Send Money to Anyone

Written by PSECU | Feb 26, 2020 7:42:00 PM

If you’ve ever gone to lunch with coworkers, contributed to a joint gift, or shared a utility bill with a roommate, you’ve likely had to ask, or been asked, “how do you want me to pay you?” Then, depending on the other person’s preference, you have to dig out your checkbook, download a new app, or link your checking account to a different program to pay.

To make this process easier and allow you to send money to anybody at any time without downloading extra apps, we offer a free service to securely send money to anyone in the U.S. with just their email or mobile phone number, even if they’re not a PSECU member.

How can I send money?

PSECU members can send money to someone else using online banking or the PSECU mobile app. The exact steps will depend on which method you use to send money and whether or not the recipient is a PSECU member.

Based on your specific situation, simply follow the instructions below to send money to other PSECU members:

  • Online Banking
    • Log into online banking using a secure browser
    • Click on the Move Money tab
    • Select Transfer Out, then Other Members
    • Fill out the form as instructed
  • Mobile App
    • Open the PSECU mobile app
    • Click on Transfer & Pay on the bottom menu
    • Select Pay a Person from the top
    • Select payment type (whether you’re sending to a PSECU saved account or sending to another PSECU member)
    • Follow the instructions to send the funds
  •

Can I save recipients within the service?

When you send money to another PSECU member, you can save them as a recipient so that the money can go directly into their account without entering their email address or phone number or setting a shared phrase.

Each time you send money to a non-member, you’ll need to follow the steps above to successfully complete the transfer.

How do I receive funds sent to me through the service?

If you’re on the receiving end of a transfer from another PSECU member, you can claim the funds using online banking or the PSECU mobile app.

  • Claiming funds using online banking
    • Go to Move Money
    • Select Transfer In
    • Click on Claim Funds. Here, you’ll need to enter the transfer code sent by PSECU and the secret phrase provided by the sender.
  • Claiming funds using the PSECU mobile app
    • Go to Transfer & Pay
    • Select Pay a Person
    • Click on Options
    • Select Claim Funds. Here, you’ll need to enter the transfer code sent by PSECU and the secret phrase provided by the sender. Then follow the prompts to claim the funds.

How do I cancel a transfer?

If the transfer hasn’t been claimed, you can cancel it. In online banking, do this by clicking View Your Pending Transactions in the Transfer Out section. You will see a link to cancel it if it hasn’t already been claimed. In the PSECU mobile app, select Transfer Activity, and you’ll be able to cancel it if it hasn’t been claimed. This works for funds being sent to both PSECU and non-members.

Can I transfer money to another PSECU account I own with this service?

If you own another PSECU account, it’s easier to simply link your accounts so you can transfer money between accounts without being restricted by the limits listed above. To do this, in online banking, select Move Money, then Transfer Out. You can then select Link Your Other PSECU Accounts. Follow the prompts to link your accounts. Once verified, the account will automatically be saved in your transfer list and won’t be subject to the transfer limits listed above.
