Favorite Winter Destinations of PSECU Employees

Winter is a great, albeit chilly, time to explore all that Pennsylvania has to offer. From cities decked out for the holidays to mountains waiting for people to hit the slopes, the commonwealth has countless locations to choose from for fun winter activities.

To help you find new places to visit, we polled some of our employees about their favorite winter destinations in PA.  Check out what they had to say.

Snow Resorts

Located in the northern part of Lehigh Valley, Blue Mountain Resort was one of the tops on our ski enthusiasts’ list, alongside Roundtop Mountain Resort. Roundtop is in Lewisberry, in the southcentral region of the state.

Both resorts offer a wide variety of outdoor activities, host exciting events, and have inviting indoor spots where friends or family members who aren’t as ski-inclined can relax and enjoy the day.

Bethlehem

Bethlehem is located toward the northeast area of the state, in Lehigh and Northampton Counties. It offers museums, shopping districts, and opportunities to explore the arts. However, it’s best known for its Christmas celebrations, earning it the nickname Christmas City, USA.

Kinzua Bridge State Park

Kinzua Bridge State Park is in McKean County in the northern part of the state. It’s a 339-acre park and home to the Viaduct, which was once the longest and tallest railroad structure. The structure was destroyed by a tornado and later reinvented as a pedestrian walkway, offering incredible views of the surrounding forest.

Longwood Gardens

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square is in the southeastern section of the state. Boasting seasonal gardens year-round, both inside and out, this is a great spot to visit for all. You can take in the views, catch a fountain show, or participate in an educational session.

Presque Isle

If you’re looking to get away in the western portion of the state, Presque Isle offers opportunities for wildlife watching, as well as winter activities, like ice skating. They don’t monitor the thickness of the ice, however, so you’ll want to use caution before heading out.
