Set Up Travel Notices for Your Cards

Written by PSECU | Sep 21, 2023 2:21:00 AM

Before you head out for travel, you no doubt have a checklist of to-dos. Make sure this one’s on it: notify your credit and debit card companies about your travel plans. Why? If they don’t know you’re out of your normal usage area, they’re likely to flag any purchases you make as possible fraud.

At PSECU, we make it super easy to let us know about where you’re headed.

  • Log into your mobile app or online banking.

  • Access the menu in the top left corner.

  • Select Manage Cards.

  • Select Add Travel Plan and follow the prompts on the screen.

  • Review your travel details, then tap Confirm.

Be aware that you can make only one travel plan per card. For example, if you add a travel plan for October 1 through October 7 to your debit card, you can’t add a second travel plan for October 10 to October 17 to that same debit card until the first travel plan has passed or has been deleted. However, you can add a travel plan to another card (Classic Card or Founder’s Card, if available) on their account for the same dates.

Our travel plan service allows you to have multiple destinations on one travel plan. You’ll want to think about where you might need to use your cards on the way to your destination. A layover in O’Hare might get O’Hairy if your debit card gets declined because it wasn’t part of your travel plan.

If you need to enter or delete travel plans on your trip, you can use Manage Cards again. Your plans will be displayed so you can easily edit or delete existing plans.

We have a few additional digital banking tools that every traveler should know about. The first is the card lock/unlock feature. If you don’t know where your card is, activate the lock feature within Manage Cards. Unlock when it’s been found; report it stolen if you think that was its fate.

Card purchase alerts can be useful at any time, but especially when you don’t know your card’s whereabouts. If you receive an alert about purchases you did not make, you can then lock your card immediately.

Loan payment reminders and low-balance alerts are also useful. They’ll help you keep your money on track so you can keep all your financial balls in the air. Bills don’t take vacations!

Activate alerts in Profiles & Settings. By using these and other digital banking tools, you can say arrivederci to stress and worry and bonjour to a fun-filled trip.
