PSECU Sponsors Financial Reality Fairs for Northampton Community College Students

Bethlehem, PA - December 6, 2016 - During the fall semester, PSECU sponsored two Financial Reality Fairs for Northampton Community College students - one at the main campus in Bethlehem in October and one at the Monroe campus in Tannersville in December. The Financial Reality Fairs were hosted by Northampton Community College and held in conjunction with the college, PSECU, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation, and State Representatives Rosemary M. Brown, Marcia Hahn and Jack Rader, Jr.

The Financial Reality Fairs are interactive events that give students a real-life, hands-on simulation of managing finances and personal budgeting. When students registered for the events, they provided information about their chosen major. On the day of the event, they were given a personalized budgeting worksheet based on this information. Students then visited a series of booths to learn about and make choices for living expenses, ranging from entertainment to insurance. Students were encouraged to revisit each booth as many times as needed to end with a balanced budget. A total of approximately 130 students attended the two fall events.
