PSECU Employees Walk a Collective 525 Miles on American Heart Association's National Walking Day
Harrisburg, PA - April 20, 2017 - In conjunction with the American Heart Association's National Walking Day on April 5th, PSECU employees at the credit union's Harrisburg, State College and Indiana locations walked a combined 525 miles.
PSECU, which promoted its employee initiative as the "PSECU 500," set a goal to walk one million steps as a company, which is equal to nearly 500 miles. Employees were asked to track their steps throughout the day, using anything from a smartphone app or fitness device like a Fitbit to a simple pedometer. Once all data was recorded, 122 employees had walked a total of 1,051,886 steps.
On National Walking Day, the American Heart Association encourages individuals, schools, communities and workplaces to commit to being more active on a regular basis. National Walking Day is now part of a larger American Heart Association initiative called "Move More in April" which stresses the opportunity to see big gains by taking little steps - Eat Smart, Add Color, Move More, and Be Well. Additional information on the benefits of walking can be found at heart.org.
