Inaugural PSECU Chips In Golf Outing to Benefit American Heart Association and American Stroke Association
Harrisburg, PA - June 6, 2017 - Tomorrow, June 7, PSECU will host 68 golfers - primarily executive leaders from across the Capital Region - for its first PSECU Chips In Golf Outing at Rich Valley Golf in Mechanicsburg. With collaboration from sixteen community sponsors, the event is anticipated to raise more than $15,000 to benefit the work of the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.
"As a not-for-profit credit union, PSECU was founded on the belief that everyone deserves opportunities for a better life. As an organization, we also understand that by investing in the creation of stronger, healthier communities, we all benefit," said PSECU Vice President of Marketing and Membership Development Barb Bowker. Bowker, who is also the American Capital Region Board Chair, continued, "PSECU has been a strong supporter of the American Heart Association for many years through various sponsorships and employee fundraising efforts, but this year we aspired to do more for the cause. The PSECU Chips In Golf Outing is a way for us to do just that by reaching out to our friends in the business community and asking them to join us in the fight against heart disease and stroke."
Participants will begin the day with a heart healthy continental breakfast, team photos and driving range warm-up at 7 a.m., followed by an 8 a.m. shotgun start. An awards lunch starting at 12:30 p.m. will conclude the outing.
"We appreciate PSECU's commitment to the American Heart Association and our mission to build healthier lives in our community, starting with its own employees," said Billy Morrison, American Heart Association Senior Heart Walk Director. "The people of PSECU have embraced a culture of wellness that is reflected in their support for our Heart Walk through this golf tournament and their enthusiasm for our initiatives throughout the year."
Heart diseases are responsible for one out of every three deaths, making them the nation's number one killer. These diseases affect everyone - men, women and children. Our local American Heart Associations are working to stop these statistics by raising the critical funding needed for research, education and community programs to lead healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Opened in 1934, PSECU was founded by 22 ordinary people who made an extraordinary commitment to each other: To create a financial institution where pooled resources benefit all members. Today, we are a full-service credit union serving more than 400,000 members and over $5 billion in assets. As a not-for-profit financial institution, our goal remains to help our members and their families achieve a better life.
