Leading PA-based Credit Union Opens Annual Scholarship Program, Moves to Electronic Application Process

Harrisburg, PA - October 24, 2017 - PSECU, a leading Pennsylvania-based credit union, has opened the application period for its annual scholarship program. The program awards six scholarships - valued at up to $8,000 each - to graduating high school seniors to help reduce the financial burden of pursuing postsecondary education. This year, the application will be available for completion online at psecu.com/scholarships.

"Since PSECU began this program in 1997, we've awarded more than half a million dollars in scholarships to over 100 students," said PSECU President Greg Smith. "We're proud to announce that the application period for this year's round of PSECU scholarships is now open, and we look forward to continuing to help students as they strive to reach their educational goals."

As long as scholarship requirements, including GPA, are met, each winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship per year that is renewable for up to four years, for a total scholarship value of $8,000 per student.

"Coupled with our financial education efforts, we see the PSECU scholarship program as being of great importance as we strive to serve our members - especially youth and students - as their trusted financial partner," said Sara Weiser, PSECU Financial Education Manager. "To simplify the process further, this year we've moved to an online application."

To qualify for PSECU's scholarship program, applicants must:

  • Be a current PSECU member (by December 30, 2017)
  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university
  • Submit the completed application by noon on Wednesday, February 28, 2018
