PSECU to Unveil Remodeled Kutztown University Financial Education Center, Continue Providing University Community with Financial Education and Resources for Success
Harrisburg, PA - October 26, 2017 - Today - exactly one week following International Credit Union Day, an annual commemoration day organized by the World Council of Credit Unions to reflect on the credit union movement's history and achievements - PSECU will unveil its newly renovated Financial Education Center (FEC) at Kutztown University. Open to the campus community, the celebration will include remarks from both PSECU and Kutztown University leadership, a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and a facility tour.
"The theme of this year's International Credit Union Day was 'Dreams Thrive Here.' It aimed to illustrate how credit unions benefit communities and help make people's dreams a reality," said Mike Verotsky, PSECU Director of University Development. "That is also our hope for the Kutztown University Financial Education Center - that it will serve as a valuable resource for the campus population, aiding students, staff, and faculty in reaching their personal goals - financial and beyond."
Following 16 years of operation, PSECU began the Kutztown University FEC renovation project in early July. Enhancements to the site will include a new design that encourages a more user-friendly experience and incorporates innovative technologies to provide better service to visitors. The FEC's branding and look will also be updated and modernized to align with PSECU's current style.
"At PSECU, it's our goal to always offer the highest quality products and services. As is the case with our Financial Education Centers, this often means making updates to ensure that we offer the most up-to-date tools and technologies for our members and potential members," said PSECU President Greg Smith. "Our Financial Education Centers are especially important because they give students educational opportunities that can set the foundation for their future financial well-being and success."
One of 22 total PSECU FECs, the Kutztown University location provides financial services assistance to the institution's community members, all of whom are eligible for membership in the credit union. Additionally, it provides internship opportunities for students looking to gain real-world experience in areas such as marketing and business operations, and serves as a place to hold financial education workshops for those interested in learning more about managing their finances.
Completion of the Kutztown University FEC remodel marks the first of a series of similar projects PSECU plans to coordinate on other college and university campuses across the Commonwealth.
Opened in 1934, PSECU was founded by 22 ordinary people who made an extraordinary commitment to each other: To create a financial institution where pooled resources benefit all members. Today, we are a full-service credit union serving more than 430,000 members and have over $5 billion in assets. As a not-for-profit financial institution, our goal remains to help our members and their families achieve a better life. For more information about PSECU, visit psecu.com.
