PSECU Employees Share Their Favorite Father's Day Gifts to Receive

Struggling with what to get Dad for Father’s Day this year? Dads can be notoriously difficult to shop for, but we tapped our best resource - PSECU employees - to learn their favorite Father’s Day gifts to give and receive! Hopefully, you get inspired by these great suggestions.

An Experience

One of the common themes from our employees was gifting an experience. A ticket to a sporting event or concert, a golf outing, a visit to a museum, a day spent fishing, or taking a cooking class were popular ideas.

The best part about an experience is you can enjoy the day with Dad, if you want! Buy two tickets to his favorite band’s next show or commit to throwing on some waders and fishing at his go-to spot with him. If your dad loves golf but you’re not a golfer, consider an option like Top Golf, which is a virtual golf experience that anyone can take part in. While the experience itself will be fun, what he’ll appreciate most is spending time with you.

Yard Supplies

One stereotype that holds true: Dads love their lawns! Our employees appreciated gifts like weed whackers, blowers, hedge trimmers, edgers, and other supplies that help them keep their lawns and outdoor spaces looking neat and tidy.

Another option, if you’re unsure of a specific tool Dad might need, is to get him a gift card to his preferred home improvement or local hardware store so he can go pick out exactly what he wants.

Outdoor Fun

Dads are kings of the “grill,” so to speak, and anything that improves or enhances their outdoor domain is a popular suggestion from our employees. Has Dad wanted to upgrade his grill or add a griddle to his outdoor cooking options? Maybe now’s the time to treat him to it!

Another favorite gift was a cooler. Whether he needs a smaller one for when he’s out and about or he loves to tailgate and could use a large cooler to store all his tasty game day treats, this is a practical gift for an outdoorsy dad.

Personal Gifts

If you want to tug on Dad’s heartstrings this year, a great choice might be to give him something personalized. You could frame a portrait of the kids or their artwork, buy a personalized sign for his man cave, get him a custom-made box to store his watch collection in, or have a special piece of jewelry engraved. One of our employees loves the personalized silly socks his kids have given him!

These timeless and thoughtful gifts will remind him how loved he is every time he sees them.

Hobbies

What does Dad love? Is he an avid bird watcher? An unfailingly supportive fan of his (mostly not great) hometown football team? Really into restoring old cars? Does he have a killer vinyl collection? Think about what his passion is or what his hobbies are and find a gift that complements them.

A new pair of binoculars so he can check out the birds out back or a personalized jersey from his favorite player are great options. Would a new set of tires spruce up that car he’s been working on? Or would he love a few of the albums he’s still got on his wish list? He’ll appreciate that you’ve paid attention to what he’s passionate about.
